“Jen DT” was a life-long feminist and supporter of women and gender diverse-communities. Jen’s wish was to assist newcomers and refugees whose vulnerability to gender-based violence is deepened by their precarious immigration status and want of community.

Gifts to The Redwood in Jen’s memory will be used to help fund legal services for newcomer survivors of gender-based violence who live in our emergency shelter and in the community. For example, The Redwood’s dedicated legal worker assists many survivors harmed by a partner who is also their immigration sponsor, and who uses that position to control and even traffic them. She helps mothers when ex-partners threaten to move children to another country. And she will accompany women to court to provide a sense of empowerment and courage as they navigate a daunting family court system.

The Redwood is profoundly grateful to Jen for supporting our most vulnerable community members, and we send our deepest condolences to those who loved her.
