The Redwood Mobile Healing Centre
The Redwood Mobile Healing Centre, housed in a custom-outfitted RV, brings anti-gender-based violence counselling and prevention, basic health care and other complementary services to survivors in neighbourhoods throughout Toronto and the GTA.
What services does the Mobile Healing Centre provide?
- Crisis intervention, including making a personalized plan to leave or cope with a relationship more safely
- Referrals to access emergency shelters, legal supports, rent-geared-to-income housing, and harm reduction services
- Depending on availability:
- Basic primary health care and sexual wellness counselling
- Mental health support
- Access to items to support with essential needs, such as menstrual and sexual health products, harm reduction supplies, and toiletry items
Who does the Mobile Healing Centre serve?
The Mobile Healing Centre works with organizations who work in the community. We provide assistance to all women, trans, and non-binary individuals in the community. We will serve a wide range of ages, from youth to seniors.
The Mobile Healing Centre will visit neighbourhood and community organizations, providing their clients with access to our services.
The Mobile Healing Centre team visited Tinu Ark of Mercy in Brampton and provided anti-gender-based violence counselling and basic healthcare services to over 50 clients.
Survivors can meet privately with the Mobile Healing Centre nurse to receive basic primary health care.
The wellness counsellor can offer trauma-informed counselling, risk assessment and safety planning for those who are living with abuse.
